What is a music NFT?

Learn what a music NFT represents on SentX, how album copies and gated tracks work, and what to check before buying a release on Hedera.

Content reviewed on

A music NFT is a token associated with a music release. On SentX, an album can have a collection token on Hedera, with numbered copies represented by NFT serials. The album page explains what listeners can play and what owning a copy unlocks.

The token, the audio files and the terms of the release are separate parts of the experience. Read all three before deciding what you are buying.

An album and its copies

The album token identifies the release. A serial identifies one numbered copy. If you buy a copy, check that token ID and serial in the connected account after the transaction succeeds.

An artist can also make music available through other channels. A tokenized copy does not, by itself, tell you whether the same recording is on a streaming service or sold elsewhere.

Public tracks and owner access

A SentX album can include public tracks and tracks gated to owners. Public tracks play for visitors. Gated tracks use ownership checks for full access, with previews where the format and release support them.

Before buying, listen to the material available on the page and check which tracks require ownership. A cover image alone does not describe the access included.

What ownership means here

The NFT records ownership of the numbered token. The release terms explain the listening, download and other rights offered with it. Token ownership is not, on its own, a transfer of copyright in the recording.

Gated delivery controls access through the service. It cannot prevent a listener from recording audio they can hear. It also should not be read as a promise that any website will host the files forever.

Buying and reselling a copy

Read the price and the purchase action shown for the release. After a successful purchase, connect the account holding the copy to use its owner features.

If you later sell or transfer the copy, ownership-based access follows the applicable checks and release terms. Review any creator royalty and other charges in the actual sale flow.

Before you buy

Check the artist's identity, the release token ID, the available tracks and the terms describing the copy. Use the correct wallet account when checking owner access.
