Hedera NFT Glossary for Collectors and Creators

The terms you meet while collecting, creating and launching NFTs on SentX. Each definition explains the part you need to recognize before taking the next action.

A

Account: An identity on Hedera that can hold HBAR and tokens. A wallet helps you use an account; the wallet application and the account are different things.
Account ID: The public identifier of an account. It is often displayed in a form such as 0.0.1234567. Include the network when sharing it for a lookup. An account ID is not a private key.
Allowance: Permission for a named spender to act within a specified scope. An NFT approval can cover one serial or a whole token collection. Association and approvals explains the distinction.
Association: The relationship that allows a Hedera account to hold a token type. It can be established manually or through supported automatic association. It is not permission to spend the account's NFTs.
Attribute: A named characteristic in NFT metadata, often used as a trait. Its meaning depends on the collection. A trait and its rarity ranking are not guarantees of price.

C

CID: An IPFS content identifier. It identifies content under its encoding and import settings. It does not identify a single hosting company or guarantee perpetual storage.
Collection: A token set with one token ID. Each NFT in the set has its own serial number. Two collections can have the same name and still be different tokens.
Collection offer: A purchase proposal that can apply within an eligible collection set. Read its quantity, eligibility and expiry before making or accepting it.
Copies: The number of NFTs you intend to mint from a prepared entry. In DreamForge, review the Copies value along with the number of selected rows.

D

Draft: An NFT entry being prepared in the creator tool. Saving a draft does not, by itself, create an NFT serial on Hedera.

F

Fallback fee: A configured custom fee that can apply when an NFT transfer does not exchange fungible value in the way needed for a percentage royalty. Read the royalty guide.
Floor price: The lowest eligible asking price in the collection view and filters being used. It is not a guaranteed sale price for every NFT in the collection.

H

HBAR: Hedera's native currency. It pays network fees and is used for many NFT prices on SentX.
Hedera Token Service: The native token service used to create and manage tokens on Hedera. HTS supports fungible tokens and NFTs without requiring a creator to deploy a custom token smart contract for those native operations.
HIP-412: The shared Hedera NFT metadata format. It describes fields applications can use to display names, media and other information. Read the metadata guide.

I

IPFS: A system for addressing and distributing content. NFT media and metadata can use IPFS addresses. Continued availability depends on someone storing and serving the content.

L

Launch stage: A phase of a launch with its own eligibility, time or other settings. Read whitelists and stages before assuming a stage reserves its own supply.
Listing: An offer by an owner to sell an NFT under displayed terms. Creating a listing is separate from minting the NFT.

M

Mainnet: The live Hedera network used for real assets. It is separate from testnet and previewnet.
Metadata: Information describing an NFT. Its on-ledger value commonly points to JSON, which can then point to artwork or other files.
Mint: A network operation that creates NFT serials in a collection. A product button called mint can also describe a particular distribution experience, so read the event's mechanics.
Mirror node: A service that ingests network information and exposes indexed data and history. It does not decide consensus. Learn about mirror nodes.

P

Pinning: Retaining content on an IPFS node instead of allowing ordinary storage cleanup to remove it. Review the terms and maintenance of the provider doing the pinning.

R

Receipt: A network result for a transaction, which can include newly created IDs or serials. Receipts have a limited availability window; historical lookups serve a different role.
Royalty: A creator-defined custom token fee assessed under Hedera's applicable exchange rules. It is separate from marketplace charges and network fees.

S

Serial number: The number identifying one NFT inside a collection. Store it together with the collection token ID and network.
Supply key: Token authority used for supported supply operations such as minting. It is not the same as a wallet recovery phrase. Understand token keys.

T

Testnet: A separate network for development exercises. Its state can reset. Testnet assets and identifiers do not establish mainnet ownership.
Token ID: The identifier of a token collection. Use it to distinguish collections even when their names or artwork match.
Transaction ID: The identifier used to trace a submitted network operation. Keep the original ID when investigating a timeout instead of immediately submitting a replacement.
Treasury: The account configured as a token's treasury. Its role in supply and certain metadata operations differs from an ordinary collector's account.

W

Whitelist: An eligibility list or rule used by a launch stage. Eligibility, the per-user cap and the per-transaction cap are separate checks.
