Phantom #89 - "The Countess" - The Countess Elizabeth Bathory was a woman who loved two things: power and blood. She was born into a noble family and married young to a man who would later become the King of Hungary. Elizabeth quickly learned that she could use her beauty and charm to get what she wanted from people, and she became known for her extravagance and cruelty. Elizabeth began torturing and murdering those who crossed her or whom she simply didn't like. She is said to have bathed in the blood of virgins, believing that it would keep her young and beautiful forever. As her body count rose, so did Elizabeth's madness. Soon, no one was safe from her wrath, not even the members of her own family. The Countess Bathory's reign of terror finally came to an end when she was arrested by Hungarian authorities after years of investigations into missing persons cases throughout the country side which were all connected back to Elizabeth's castle. The countess died in prison before she could be tried for her crimes but legend has it that even in death Elizabeth still craves blood...
